Montclair, San Bernardino County
Montclair incorporated in 1956 under the name Monte Vista and adopted its present name two years later, after the post office objected to a duplicate. Citrus groves covered the area until the freeway arrived. The regional mall that opened beside Interstate 10 in 1968, now called Montclair Place, has been the commercial center of the city ever since.
